Since it began in India in 1995 the laughter yoga movement (we call them laughter clubs or laughter yoga - it's the same thing) has spread to more than 4,000 locations worldwide. Recent research has shown it to be higly effective are raising the performance of staff. It was a major event during the 2004 Melbourne International festival.

what happens at a laughter session?
A qualified laughter leader comes to your event or workplace. After a short introduction you will be taken through 20 to 30 minutes of laughing, breathing and gentle exercise. Afterwards everyone feels energised, motivated and in a good mood.

what is laughter therapy
The term "laughter therapy" is used interchangeably in Australia. Sometimes it refers to the use of laughter in a therapeuitic setting (ie with a counsellor or therapist) and sometimes it's used to refer to the therapeutic benefits of laughter in a workplace or social setting. In the US there is actually the "Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH)". www.aath.org. A group of therapists dedicated to using laughter to heal people.
