The term “laughter therapy” is used interchangeably in Australia. Sometimes it refers to the use of laughter in a therapeutic setting (i.e. with a counselor or therapist) and sometimes it’s used to refer to the therapeutic benefits of laughter in a workplace or social setting. Sometimes it’s used to refer to Laughter Yoga.  In the US there is actually the “Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH)”. www.aath.org – a group of therapists dedicated to using laughter to heal people.
